Wiccan Tools
Once you start on your journey with Wicca, you realize that a very important piece of being a practicing wiccan are the tools that you need to use to successfully accomplish your goals. Tools are used in Wicca to help you to focus your intention, channel energy and to connect with the divine. They are also used for mixing ingredients and cleansing your space before you start doing a ritual or any spell work. In short, these tools are used to enhance your spiritual experience.

An Athame is a ceremonial knife or dagger which is used in Wicca. The Athame is used for casting and closing sacred circles. It is also used to cut energetic ties and to focus intention. An Athame is a very personal tool that has been aligned with the practitioner’s energy. This blade should be used with respect and should never bring any harm to anyone. and is generally found on a wiccan’s altar for different magical and ritual practices.

In Wicca, a wand is used to direct energy and to cast spells. The wand is used to represent the power of your willpower and your own mind. This is again a personal tool used to invoke the God and the Goddess. It is also used when casting a circle and to draw magical symbols. When it is not being used, the wand is wrapped in linen or silk or stored in a special box.

Cauldrons are another tool used in Wicca. They symbolize the womb of the goddess often representing the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. The things used in your cauldron will be different depending on what the intention and purpose of the ritual or ceremony. Cauldrons are often filled with liquids, spell ingredients or decorations. A cauldron can also be used for scrying or divination, using the clear surface as a mirror for the practicing Wiccan to receive incoming messages or direction from the goddess.

Wiccans use a sacred book to write down all of their personal spells and rituals. This book is known as a Grimoire. This book can be used as a journal, collection of spells or the wiccans personal reference guide.
